Distance won't keep HK-based architect from showing support for idol Alyssa Valdez

    Apr 6, 2015

    ADMIRATION knows no distance.

Randy Iblasin is a Filipino architect who works as a consultant in Hong Kong, yet he always makes it a point to travel back to Manila just to cheer and support his idol, volleyball star Alyssa Valdez.

Aside from his HK job, Iblasin also happens to be the vice president of the Certified Supporters of Ms MVP Alyssa Valdez Fans Club, or known simply as Alyfinity.

The architect said he doesn’t mind going back and forth from Hong Kong to Manila just to watch and see Valdez play in person.

“Syempre hindi labag sa loob ko gumastos. Kung kinakailangan nga umuwi, uuwi ako,” Iblasin related to Spin.ph on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan during the opener of the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Open Conference.

Iblasin was there to watch Valdez in action for PLDT Home Ultera team. Unfortunately, the two-time UAAP MVP missed the game after attending to a family reunion in her native San Juan, Batangas.

The architect said he was hoping to see Valdez after he failed to go home for the UAAP Finals last month.

But even if coming over meant spending HKD1,119 (P6,400) for a one-way plane ticket and travelling 1,115 km., Iblasin doesn’t mind. He was also hardly disappointed with Valdez’s no show.

“Excited para makita siya ulit (sa game) pero (kahit wala siya) hindi ako disappointed or malungkot, hindi,” he said. “Kasi habang wala naman ako 'yung grupo eh tuloy ang suporta.”

Iblasin will be staying in the country only until Tuesday as he has a lot of work to attend to in Hong  Kong.

But this early, he’s already looking forward to his next trip to the country as he hopes to finally see Valdez in action.

“Aalis na ako sa Tuesday pero pag may event ang grupo with Alyssa babalik na lang ako,” he said. “Nakapagpaalam naman ako sa kanya (noong di ako nakanood ng Finals). Sabi naman niya, ‘Blessing yan, trabaho 'yan, wala tayong magagawa.’”

“Madami pa namang time. Baka sa (Asian) U-23 tournament makabalik ako. Kung pwede nga lang every month, e.”
