JAPAN volleyball superstar Ran Takahashi will return to the Philippines as Akari’s newest brand ambassador.
The local lighting and technology giant revealed the brand’s high-profile face on Thursday evening.

“A new power emerges all the way from Japan. Akari welcomes its newest Brand Ambassador, Japanese volleyball star Ran Takahashi! Stay tuned for more from Ran as he’s set to arrive in Manila,” Akari announced.
The brand will make his ambassadorship official in over a week’s time on Aug. 23.
New ‘fan’ for the fan-favorite
Ryujin Nippon’s fan-favorite outside hitter made three prior trips to Manila in the last three editions of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
In total, Takahashi & Co. won eight of their 12 VNL Manila leg matches — all of which drew packed crowds at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in 2022 and at the Mall of Asia Arena for the last two years.
But before Japan’s fourth, and possibly most important Manila sojourn, in the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, Takahashi is set to become much more of a prominent face for Filipino fans.
Akari is set to launch a flagship product named after the Japanese ace — the ‘Ran Takahashi Turbo Fan.’
Future brand commitments with Takahashi will soon follow shortly after his and Japan’s crestfallen Olympic run in Paris where they were booted out of medal contention by Italy in the quarterfinals to finish seventh in the 12-team field.
