RAMIL de Jesus will have his hands full next month as he handles both La Salle in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament and F2 Logistics in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.
The UAAP season starts on February 3 while the PSL will kick off two weeks later, meaning the multi-titled coach will have to do a tough balancing act during that long stretch.
De Jesus, however, is unfazed.
“Sabay naman ang training (ng F2 at La Salle) so hindi ko napapabayaan (ang parehong teams),” said the soft-spoken de Jesus.
Six current La Salle players - Kim Dy, Majoy Baron, Tin Tiamzon, Desiree Cheng, Carmel Saga and Dawn Macandili - are part of the F2 Logistics team but they won’t be suiting up in the PSL while the collegiate season is ongoing.
De Jesus is facing high expectations on both tasks.
La Salle's Lady Spikers will be gunning for a third straight UAAP championship while F2 Logistics will be going for back-to-back titles in the import-flavored club league.
The veteran coach said his focus shifted immediately to La Salle shortly after the PSL season ended on December 16.
“Pagkatapos nito (PSL), UAAP naman,” he said.
