LA Salle coach Ramil de Jesus would rather sacrifice the holidays than be sorry again by the end of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
The multi-titled mentor said the Lady Spikers will spend their vacation at the gym trying to get even better as they look to reclaim lost glory this season.
The former three-time champions failed to retain their title last year after losing to archrival Ateneo in the finals despite holding a commanding thrice-to-beat advantage.
Just like last year, La Salle is off to a fine start this season after winning its first five matches with the loss of just two sets along the way.
But de Jesus said the team won’t settle for just five wins.
“Right after ng New Year may game na agad so sakripisyo muna,” the La Salle mentor told Spin.ph.
“Lahat naman nangangarap manalo lalo mag-champion, hindi lang natin alam kung kanino ibibigay,” he added.

Despite La Salle’s perfect record, defending champion Ateneo is right behind with a similar clean slate at 4-0 for second spot.
De Jesus said the Lady Spikers are getting ready for the Lady Eagles.
“Lahat naman ng coaches pare-pareho nage-effort, lahat naman nagpa-practice kahit kami pag-eensayuhan ang bawat laro, so swerte na lang.”
Both the Lady Spikers and the Lady Eagles will have a game on January 4 next year, with La Salle facing University of the East and Ateneo squaring off with University of the Philippines.
