AFTER the graduation of Ara Galang, Mika Reyes, and Cyd Demecillo and the uncertainty surrounding the return of Kim Fajardo, the La Salle Lady Spikers took another blow with the departure of Eli Soyud.

La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus confirmed to Spin.ph that the veteran opposite spiker is no longer part of the Lady Spikers side that will defend its UAAP women's volleyball championship next year.

Soyud was in fact dropped from the team last August, the coach added.

"Matagal na wala si Soyud sa La Salle, after PSL All-Filipino pa," de Jesus, who coached the core of the La Salle side in the F2 Logistics side that bagged the Super Liga's AFC championship.

"May mga pinapagawa ako sa kanya na 'di niya ginawa so pinag-decide ko siya na pag di ka pa rin nagpakita, good as wala ka na sa team," he added.

The nine-time UAAP champion coach, however, does not know if Soyud has already transferred to another team.

"Hindi ko alam kung nasaan (na team) na siya ngayon," he said.

Soyud was a back-up for much of her La Salle career but stole the limelight during a first-round meeting against Ateneo last year where she had an emphatic block against Lady Eagles star Alyssa Valdez.

Her celebration after the block earned the ire of fans but Soyud shrugged off the bashing.

In the second round, Soyud had another big game by scoring 16 points in a game against University of the Philippines.
