BORACAY – Team Plunge copped the Nestea beach volleyball fantasy match title with a 21-16, 24-22 victory over Team Chillax on Saturday.
Rachel Anne Daquis, Aby Marano, Melissa Gohing and Jovelyn Gonzaga of Team Plunge overcame a late surge from Cha Cruz, Michele Gumabao, Bang Pineda and Ella de Jesus.
“Play talaga naming ’yun na kami lang ni Mel ang nasa likod, sa depensa, tapos si Jov and Aby ang taga-atake,” said Daquis, who also won in last year’s fantasy match.
The comely spiker out of Far Eastern University noted she is a victory away from matching Gonzaga’s three wins in the Nestea beach volleyball tournament.
“Two-peat na ako, isa na lang pareho na kami, legend na rin ako dito,” Daquis said.
Team Chillax almost extended the match but their own errors stopped their momentum and handed Team Plunge the win.
“Sayang kasi ang ganda rin ng game plan namin,” said Cruz, who’s also on her second year in the fantasy match. “Kami ni Michele bahala sa offense tapos si Band and Ella ang depensa kasi forte nila ’yun.”
