JOVELYN Gonzaga believes there’s one last missing trait for ZUS Coffee to fortify its ongoing rebuild: patience.
In five matches to date in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, the Thunderbelles have racked up their first two franchise victories over Nxled and Galeries Tower after 20 prior defeats.
But their three losses didn’t see them get ran over too easily like in conferences and seasons past.
Something's Brewing For ZUS
From fresh, young signings to veteran additions, ZUS Coffee has properly began brewing a winning flavor for what it sees as a promising long-term project.
And as is the case with such grand pursuits, there’ll be pressure and it’ll always take time.
“Mahirap pa ma-pressure kasi baka [ma-overwhelm] sa expectations. More on thankful lang talaga ako sa progress ng team and thankful din sa management and sa coaching staffs na very patient sa’min,” Gonzaga shared with SPIN.ph.
“‘Yun ang kailangan ng team namin ngayon, Kami naman, meron kaming sense of urgency and accountability, given ‘yung responsibility namin na pinalaro kami sa team na ito at belong kami sa team na ito kaya kailangan namin individually mag-contribute.”
At least for now, there won’t be any promises whatsoever that they’ll turn things around as quick as possible.
But best believe that in time, ZUS Coffee will soon make some sweet music in the league.
“Hindi namin maipangako na consistent all throughout kasi lalabas at lalabas yung pagkabaka ng team, pero pagta-trabahuan namin ‘to hanggang maabot namin ‘yung goal [to be a winning team].”
