SAVI Davison took a four-month break back home in Canada, even if it meant missing the early stages of PLDT’s preliminary-round run in the 2025 PVL on Tour.
After two brief cameos, the 26-year-old Fil-Canadian winger took matters into her own hands as usual with a 28-piece a 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 rout of ZUS Coffee that sent the High Speed Hitters to the preseason semifinals.

Having played a six-month All-Filipino Conference and a brief AVC Champions League stopover, fatigue and homesickness came into play for Davison, who has carried the brunt of PLDT’s offense since her arrival two years ago.
The much-needed pause rejuvenated Davison after months of missing out on a brief trip back to her hometown of Toronto.
Personal interests aside, Davison’s extended homecoming was her way of repaying the sacrifices of her family who endured staying up late to watch her games and keeping her spirits up from roughly 8,000 miles away.

“My sister’s growing up, and my family, you know, people are just getting older and it's nice to spend the time with them as much as I can especially when it's summer in Canada. You get to be outside a little bit more and just show people that you love them,” Davison shared with SPIN.ph.
“They wake up at 4 to 6 a.m. every day to watch me play back home before they go to work. Just for me to be able to reciprocate that love, it's a big deal — mentally and emotionally.
“It was kind of a mental rest and I got to just talk about like how things used to be or like how things are with the family. It wasn't so much on me. I got to ask questions about my mom, about my sister, how school has been, how work has been and stuff like that,” said Davison
“It's just kind of taking the energy off of me and giving it back.”
Savvy, full-body reset
Davison still trained in her time off in Canada to keep her body fit and ready.
But her prime focus was detaching herself from the sport and taking a much-needed reset to be back at her best in the PVL.
And the way Davison puts it, her time away from volleyball was reflective and replenishing, to say the least.
“It's not even about being in the gym but when you're taken out of the city, you start to breathe a little bit more. You start to relax, your blood pressure starts to go down, you kind of just feel it in the air that, you know, you're kind of leaving somewhere,” Davison shared.
“That in general made me kind of relax and kind of reset. Even though I was in the gym a little bit, it was a different atmosphere. It was a little bit of a change. It was a little bit more light.
“Just having that and obviously having the conversations to have the time to sit down and talk to somebody and understand like what they've been going through. It's not a 12-hour time change where I'm going to bed and you're waking up so it's nice to just kind of take in the moment.”
