POCARI Sweat made quick work of Laoag, 25-21, 25-16, 25-17, to sustain their hot start in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday.
Skipper Michele Gumabao and Myla Pablo led the charge with 13 points apiece, while Elaine Kasilag added 11 for the Lady Warriors, who remained unbeaten in the tournament and stretched their winning run to three.
But despite their streak of dominant wins, Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella stressed that he keeps his wards grounded and focused on each game.
“Wala kami kasing ano eh, we’re taking this tournament one game at a time. Cliché as it may sound pero ganoon talaga ang focus namin ngayon eh,” he said.
“Kung sino ang kalaban namin, doon muna kami nagfo-focus. Hindi namin ino-over look kung sino ang makakalaban namin. ‘Yun muna ang pinagtutuunan namin ng pansin,” he added.
Pocari Sweat, which only needed an hour and 15 minutes to finish the match, got an added boost from second stringers Rose Vargas, Cai Nepomuceno, Erika Alkuino, Rossan Fajardo, Sarah Jane Espelita and Rica Enclona.
Mylene Paat made 14 points for Laoag, which dropped to 1-2.
