AIR Force hopes to duplicate the feat of their men's team when they try to seal the deal against Pocari Sweat in Game Two of the best-of-three Finals series of Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
“’Yun nga sabi ko, ‘kapag nanalo ang men’s (team) namin, mahahawaan na kami so pinataas ko ang morale nila na ano na yan kambal kambal na ‘yan. Susunod na ‘yan pag nag-champion ‘yung men’s (team) natin susunod na tayo dyan,” said Air Force coach Jasper Jimenez, referring to Air Force men winning the Spikers' Turf title on Wednesday.
The Jet Spikers recovered from a poor reception in the fourth set to force a deciding set before completing their comeback, 17-25, 25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 15-11.
Jimenez, however, remained wary of Pocari Sweat’s capability to come back from a 0-1 deficit like what they did against the Bali Pure in the semifinals.
“Ganoon pa rin, hindi kami puwedeng mag-relax and kailangang kunin na namin ito (Game Two),” he said. “Kasi alam naman natin na babalik at babalik ang Pocari gaya noong ginawa nila noong semis.”
To counter Pocari Sweat’s big three of Michele Gumabao, Myla Pablo and Elaine Kasilag, the Jet Spikers will rely on their much-experienced tandem of Joy Cases and Judy Ann Caballejo, along with May Ann Pantino and the smart plays of veteran setter Wendy Semana.
