UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas coach Kungfu Reyes shrugs off comments by fans with regards to the way he handles the Tigresses women’s volleyball team.
Only in his fourth month at the helm of the Tigresses, but Reyes already has seen his share of bashers for his stern demeanor and seemingly authoritarian approach from the sidelines.
However, Reyes, who took over from Odjie Mamon, said he has no time to think about his critics especially on social media, as his main concern is to improve the team.
“’Di ko alam eh pero for sure meron (fans na naiinis),” Reyes told Spin.ph.
“Importante lang mapabuti ang mga bata, kahit sabi nila (fans) lagi akong galit,” he added.
Reyes is often seen shouting at the top of his lungs especially when the Tigresses are not performing in games of the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference.
But the team has been performing well of late. After a conference-opening loss to Ateneo, the native of Lucena, Quezon steered the team to four consecutive wins entering the quarterfinal round.
And that's all Reyes cares about. He knows he cannot please everybody and he has no plans of even trying.
“Ako na lumabas na masama basta mapabuti mga bata at ‘yung team,” he said.
