    UST Tigresses rip Perpetual Lady Altas for share of PVL lead

    UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas defeated University of Perpetual Help, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16, on Wednesday to remain unbeaten in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

    Incoming freshman Eya Laure scored 12 points, while Milena Alessandrini had 11 markers and 10 digs for the Tigresses, who copped their second win in as many games.

    UST gained a share of the early lead with Far Eastern University, which defeated San Beda in four.

      “Itong mga naka-line-up dito, nakikita namin ang potential ng mga player na magko-contribute. Kung magkakamali, kailangan bumalik, mag-compose sila,” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes.

      Down by two, 19-21, in the first set and, 17-19, in the second set, UST showed grit to gain composure and seal the win.

      “‘Yun na nga, slow start, medyo nagkakapaan pa ang mga bata kanina,” said Reyes. “Every set ganoon ang nangyayari, medyo nakawala lang kami noong nag-strong finish kami ng third set na.”
