UAAP juniors MVP EJ Laure came up with another huge performance, powering University of Santo Tomas to a 25-15, 19-25, 25-18, 25-13 win over Far Eastern University on Sunday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

High school star Laure, tapped as a guest player in the league featuring top college players, came up with a game-high 17 points to help the Tigresses even their win-loss record to 1-1. The 16-year-old Laure, daughter of former basketball pro Eddie, scored 23 in her V-League debut when UST lost to National University in five sets.

Jessey de Leon scored 16, Pam Lastimosa and had 15 and Chlodia Cortez came off the bench to chip in 11 points for UST.

Sophomore Ria Meneses and third year spiker Mela Tunay were also effective as they chipped in seven markers each.

“We’ll collect as many win as we can para makasali kami sa quarterfinals,” said UST coach Odjie Mamon, whose team is now behind idle NU in Group B.

“Advantage din sa amin ’yung schedule kasi every Sunday lang kami maglalaro, so makakapag ensayo talaga kami,” he added.

Guest player Rhea Dimaculangan registered 40 excellent sets for UST, while Dancel Dusaran came up with 13 perfect digs.

Bernadette Pons had 14 points, while Marie Simborio added 11 for FEU, which now also holds a 1-1 card.
