UNIVERSITY of the Philippines bounced back with a 26-24, 27-25, 29-27 victory over College of St. Benilde on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Isa Molde led the Lady Maroons with 18 points and 11 digs, while rookie Nicole Magsarile added 10.
UP, coming off a four-set loss to Adamson University, improved to 3-2.
“The game was long, we had many chances that if we executed quickly it could be an easy three-set win,” said UP coach Godfrey Okumu. “But the mistakes we made, we had rallies, those are the results we have to struggle.”
Okumu also waved off suggestions CSB managed to keep it close just because it was former UP coach Jerry Yee who was calling the shots for the Lady Blazers.
“Again, the team we played against is not an easy team,” he said. “It gave teams hard time and we have to accept that they are not here just to play but to compete and win.”
Klarisa Abriam scored 20 points for CSB, which slid to a tie for fifth with University of Perpetual Help.
