UNIVERSITY of the Philippines made short work of Polytechnic University of the Philippines, 25-15, 25-14, 25-13, in the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday.
Maria Molde finished with 15 points while guest player Sheena Chopitea added 10 and Diana Carlos chipped in nine as the Lady Maroons bounced back after a loss to National University in their Group A debut.
All but one player from the Diliman-based squad scored a point for a total of 43 attack points, four blocks and 10 service aces in a match that took just an hour and seven minutes to finish.
“Lahat ng mga players ko (nagamit) kasi exposure sa laro, para makaipon ng kompiyansa,”said UP coach Jerry Yee. “Motivated din 'yan kasi we explained to them na kailangang manalo kami ng at least two games para makapasok sa quarterfinals.”
