OWING to a conflict in schedule, University of Santo Tomas is uncertain of joining the second edition of the Spikers’ Turf men's volleyball tournament.
Ricky Palou told Spin.ph the organizing Sports Vision of which he is president, is still awaiting confirmation whether the Espana-based school would be part of the 12-team field for the coming tournament which starts July 13.
“Hinihintay pa namin ang UST kasi may problema sila because of conflict of classes,” said Palou during the team meeting on Wednesday.
The Tigers have one day to finalize their entry. In case the school will not join the tournament, Sports Vision will be forced to look for a replacement.
“So pag (hindi sila pwede) we will look for another team,” said Palou. “Ang daming gustong sumali so hindi problema na hindi mabuo ang 12 teams.”
The uncertainty of UST’s participation comes at a time when La Salle confirmed it will be seeing action in the fledgling men’s volleyball tournament in the country.
La Salle was actually represented during the team meeting, also attended by Ateneo, National University, Far Eastern University, University of the Philippines, La Salle Dasmarinas, Emilio Aguinaldo College, College of St. Benilde, Arellano, Mapua and National College of Business and Arts.
UST was a no-show.
