TRISHA Tubu came four points shy of matching her career-high in Farm Fresh’s 26-24, 13-25, 25-21, 25-19 win over sister team ZUS Coffee.
The Foxies’ go-to spiker fired 28 points on 27 attacks and one block on 48 percent scoring efficiency in the Foxies' second win in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
But it wasn’t just Tubu who had a standout showing for the orange side of the Strong Group Athletics stable as Alyssa Bertolano put together a triple-double of 12 points, 12 digs and 12 receptions.
Not even a 16-piece from Thea Gagate and back-to-back 10-point games from new signings Jovelyn Gonzaga and Chinnie Arroyo could save ZUS Coffee from suffering its first loss in three games for an even 2-2 card.
Can’t get no satisfaction
Tubu has so far scored in double digits in all four Farm Fresh matches this conference, averaging an impressive 19.5 points an outing.
As the Foxies begin to show signs of life after a 0-2 start that saw them win just a single set, Tubu is more inspired than ever to keep raising her game.
“Every day talaga, hinahanapan ko ‘yung sarili ko talaga ng progress," said the former Adamson star, whose career high of 32 she set in a five-set win over Choco Mucho in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference last April.
"Thankfully, nakakapag-contribute ako sa team kaya alam ko marami pang kulang so wino-work on ko ‘yun araw-araw,” Tubu added.
Backed by a new mentor in Benson Bocboc, Tubu put her best foot ward in her match against former head coach Jerry Yee and former teammates Arroyo, Kate Santiago, and Joan Narit.
“Si coach Boc kasi talaga, every day pinu-push niya po ako so ‘yung challenge na ‘yun talagang inaccept ko, niyakap ko lang. Thankfully, nagagawa ko ‘yung role sa team ngayon.”
