TRISHA Tubu has come out of her shell since leading Adamson to a bronze in UAAP Season 85 over a year ago.
With four 30-point games in the PVL and a best opposite spiker nod to her name, it’s been onwards and upwards for the 24-year-old wing spiker as one of Philippine volleyball’s fast-rising pro stars.
Such feats and recognitions haven’t crossed her mind one bit. It’s all about turning those big numbers to wins.

“Nakalimutan ko na po ‘yung award na ‘yun, sa totoo lang, kasi ‘yung goal ko po ngayon talaga is ‘yung maging efficient po every time na nasa court ako,” said Tubu.
“Kung mabigyan ulit nun, siguro bonus ‘yun. Pero ina-eye ko ngayon talaga is ‘yung bawat panalo ng team namin. Kasi aanuhin mo ang award kung ang team mo naman is talo, ‘di ba?”
The timely return of Rachel Daquis to the PVL gave Tubu another shoulder to stand on as her ascent through the ranks continues.
“Sobrang laking tulong po niya. ‘Di lang po siya, ‘yung lahat po ng dumating sa amin na mga ates namin kasi bata ang team namin,” Tubu said.
“‘Yung pagdating po nila is napakalaking-tulong kasi ‘yun nga po veterans, mga experienced sila," she added.
“Kulang pa po kami sa experience pero sa tulong nga mga experienced naming mga ate parang umiikli po ang time na makuha po namin ang napagdaanan nila. Binibigay na nila sa amin ‘yung mga napagdaanan na nila.”
It’ll also be her life’s mission in the PVL to repay and uphold the trust Farm Fresh had in her when she was once at a crossroads on where her volleyball career was headed.
“Thankful kasi pinagkakatiwalaan ako ni coach Boc, pinagkakatiwalaan ako ng mga teammates ko, pinagkakatiwalaan ako ni boss Frank [Lao], ‘yung team owner namin. Du’n pa lang solve na ako,” Tubu said.
“Ayoko pong masira ‘yung tiwala sa akin. Kaya hanga’t nandyan ako sa loob, hangga’t kaya kong mag-contribute talagang magko-contribute ako para rin sa team ko.”
