TRISHA Genesis showed the way as Adamson stayed in the hunt for a finals berth with a 25-12, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11 victory over College of St. Benilde on Wednesday in PVL Collegiate Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.
Genesis scored five of her 24 points in the fifth set as Adamson forced a third match in the semifinal series after a five-set defeat in the opener.
Genesis and rookie Lorene Toring nailed the clutch blows in a 9-2 run in the fifth.
“Ngayon hindi sila bumigay,” said Adamson head coach Lerma Giron. “Noong nakaraan pag nagkakamali, easily they’re giving up pero ngayon nakita ko yung improvement pag nagkamali sila, gusto agad nila bumawi.”
“Some of them may lagnat, some of them may ubo’t sipon talagang inaalagaan lang namin sa gamot. Thank God yung mental toughness nila andun pa rin kumbaga mind over matter,” Giron said.
Tookies Lucille Almonte and Rizza Cruz scored 12 points each, Toring chipped in 11 points, while Louie Romero put up 18 excellent sets, 19 digs and six markers.
The Lady Falcons overcame 38 errors in the match.
Klarisa Abriam scored 23 points, while Gayle Pascual had 14 points for St. Benilde, which played without Mycah Go, the star of the series opener, who suffered a hamstring injury in Monday’s practice.
