THE long and winding road back to the taraflex has all been worth it so far for Trisha Genesis.
The 24-year-old spiker heaved a huge sigh of relief as a young Capital1 team welcomed her with open arms after a difficult exit from Nxled last year.

“Personal reasons po talaga kaya ako nag-move to Capital1. Sobrang hirap at habang proseso na pinagdaanan bago po ako makalipat dito,” Genesis admitted.
“Finally, natapos din kung anuman ‘yung naging problemang ‘yun at eto, nakakapaglaro na.”
Her Capital1 debut might’ve been spoiled by a raging Creamline side in straight sets, but Genesis still shone brightest for the Solar Spikers with a team-high 10 points and five receptions.
“Sobrang saya makabalik sa taraflex at makalaro na sa bago kong team. Sa nilaro po namin ngayon, para sa’kin, okay siya kasi nakipagsabayan po kami, knowing Creamline na defending champion talaga,” Genesis said.
What unleashed her already-sharp form with Capital1? The team’s unwavering trust in her game from the get-go.
“Thank you so much po, lalong-lalo na sa mga coaches, kay coach Roger (Gorayeb), kasi paglipat ko pa lang, ‘yung tiwala niya agad sa’kin, buong-buo.
“Sa teammates ko po, talagang tinanggap nila ako nang buo. Talagang ‘yung tiwala nila, hindi kalahati, but 101 percent.”
Now ‘back to zero,’ it will all be about repaying Capital1’s trust for Genesis as she looks to shine in this new environment, and system.
“Masaya po kasi si coach, hinahayaan niya lang po kami mag-training. Ibibigay niya sa’min yung instructions tapos kami na bahala. Hindi siya basta-bastang nagpapa-drills,” said Genesis.
“Talagang pag nakikita niya kami na pa-petiks petiks, ayan coach Roger, dragon na ulit. ’Pag nakikita niya naman na todo-effort ka kahit sa training, talagang tuwang-tuwa siya, wala siyang sasabihin talaga.”
