TOTS Carlos and Isa Molde led the charge as Motolite dominated also-ran BaliPure, 25-16, 25-21, 25-19, bolstering their semifinals chances in the PVL Open Conference on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.
University of the Philippines duo provided 24 of Motolite’s 42 attacks to outlast the Water Defenders, who only had 32 attacks.
Carlos finished with 17 points on 12 attacks, four aces and a block laced with 12 digs, while Molde had 12 points, all from spikes.
Myla Pablo only saw action in the last two sets and scored eight markers, while Fen Emnas put up 16 excellent sets and five points.
Motolite scored its second straight victory for a 9-5 win-loss record, tied for third with BanKo.
The victory of Motolite ended the semifinals hopes of Choco Mucho, which held a 6-8 record entering Saturday’s match against Air Force (6-6).
“The game today meant a lot to us and I believe that all the players and the staff came into this game with all the seriousness because it’s the one game that make can make a big difference,” said Motolite head coach Godfrey Okumu. “It feels so good and I’m so happy with their performance, they played so well.”
Grace Bombita had 13 points for the Water Defenders, in eighth spot with a 4-11 record.
