“Alam ko naman na whenever they give me a chance to play, alam ko na may suporta 'yan lagi. Even sa mga teammates ko, alam ko na may mga tao sa likod ko,” said Carlos.
Her 10-point, two-set cameo for Creamline in its year-opening sweep of Capital1 was only Carlos’ second showing in the team’s five matches to date.
The last time she saw action for Creamline? Nov. 23 in Candon City when she made her conference debut as the defending champions swept their Reinforced Conference title rival last year in Akari.
There, Carlos only had four points in her first game back from a four-month, knee-related injury layoff.
Known for her power hits throughout her career, the PVL’s local scoring record-holder’s trust in her teammates gives her much more freedom and less pressure to produce staggering numbers day in and day out.
“Hindi ako pressured to score 38 points every game kasi may suporta ‘yun,” said Carlos.
“Whenever they give me the chance to play, siyempre 100 percent pa rin but also at the same time, that’s one way to also measure kung nasaan na ‘yung level, ‘yung nasaan na ‘yung recovery ko sa injury.
If there’s one thing she learned in four years with Creamline, she knows she’ll never have to walk alone.
“‘Yung volleyball naman namin, hindi naman siya one man eh. It’s really teamwork. Meron kaming kanya-kanyang roles so hindi kami mahihirapan,” Carlos said.
“Hindi namin kailangang mag-overlap sa isa’t isa to do whatever we want. My mindset lang lagi is to really perform 100 percent kung hanggang saan ko kaya kasi alam ko na may mga naka-suporta sa’kin.”
