TINA Salak is the new head coach of the Akari Chargers.
The concurrent Far Eastern University women's volleyball mentor replaces Japanese tactician Taka Minowa at the helm of the reigning 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference bronze medalists and 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference runner-up.

Two days since Minowa penned his parting note, Akari's not-so secret coaching appointment has finally been revealed.
She becomes the fourth female PVL head coach and third in the professional era of the league's eight-year history after Galeries Tower's Lerma Giron, F2 Logistics' Regine Diego, and Adamson and Motolite's Airess Padda.
In total, Salak is the 46th coach to be handed the reins of a PVL team since the league’s inception in 2017.

The 48-year-old mentor re-entered the Philippine volleyball coaching scene in UAAP Season 85 for her alma mater FEU.
Salak stepped down from her post to migrate to America where she would eventually tie the knot with her longtime partner Pauline Gretel.
Her Lady Tamaraws return in Season 86 saw her coaching comeback, albeit as a deputy to neophyte shot-caller Manolo Refugia where they wind up in the Final Four.
As head coach again a season later, the same Final Four finish would be replicated as she continues to bolster FEU’s women’s volleyball program along with her concurrent assistant coaching duties for Nxled, Akari’s sister team.
Salak's UAAP head coaching record now stands at 15-14.
Pending further confirmation, Salak is expected to juggle double duties as Akari and FEU head coach moving forward.
Her first order of duty as Akari's new leader is to secure new pieces to bolster the team's PVL emergence starting with the 10th overall pick in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft.
