ARMY skipper Tina Salak admits being disappointed, but said there is no shame in the loss to PLDT in the Shakey's V-League Open Conference finals.
The veteran setter and her Lady Troopers fell short in their title defense against the younger Ultra Fast Hitters on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan. But she praised her teammates for the effort while giving credit to PLDT’s fine play.
"Hindi nakakahiyang talo," said Salak. "Hindi namin iniisip na ganon kasi grabe ang hirap ng team lahat naman nag-contribute."
The ageless playmaker admitted that she had to hide the sadness behind a smile to lift her teammates’ morale after the five-set loss.
"Pagdating lang sa dugout medyo malungkot pero sabi ko sa kanila ang dami natin na inspire," she said. "Kung hindi man natin nakuha or hindi natin na-achieve 'yung goal natin pero iba 'yung pina-achieve ni God sa atin eh."
But it was a genuine smile Salak had when she was emerged from the dugout to the sight of screaming fans waiting to have their pictures taken with her.
"Ang dami natin na-inspire na bata na nanonood," she stressed. "Ang dami namin napasaya kasi ang ganda ng game namin at ng PLDT."
