MALOLOS, Bulacan — Tacloban bounced back from a loss in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference by defeating Iriga-Navy, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, on Wednesday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center here.
Skipper Jovielyn Prado and Heather Guino-o each had 13 points for the Fighting Warays, who outfought Iriga in three hard-fought sets to atone for a straight-set loss to Petro Gazz.
“‘Medyo tumaas ulit ang morale ng mga players, naka-recover kami doon sa pangit naming pagkatalo kasi para kaming nagkakagulo sa first game namin,” said Tacloban coach Nes Pamilar.
From a tied, 5-5, contest in the second set, the Fighting Warays went on a 10-1 run to open a 15-6 lead. The Lady Oragons got within four 11-15 but that proved to be the closest that they could come.
“Ngayon maka-adjust lang kami ulit, makakabalik ulit ang organized na game namin,” said Pamilar.
Team captain Grazielle Bombita made 12 points for Iriga, which remained winless in two outings.
