IT'S been roughly eight months since ace spiker Kianna Dy last saw action in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
In October of last year, Dy was still part of the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, but missed the entirety of the Second All-Filipino Conference due to a knee injury.
Then came the shock news of the Cargo Movers’ disbandment which led to a star-studded player exodus. This brought Dy, alongside Kim Fajardo and Majoy Baron, to PLDT.
Another conference in the books, though, and Dy still hasn’t suited up as her recovery continues.

As part of the the High Speed Hitters' meet-and-greet session during the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Manila, Dy gave a rather brief update on how she’s taking the closing stages of her rehabilitation.
“Update with me? I’m doing good,” Dy said with a smile.
“With my injury, we’re going day-by-day. And I just don’t want to give a specific date when I’m going to play because ayaw kong paasahin din ‘yung sarili ko and also the supporters. We just go day-by-day and see what happens.”
Newest piece of PLDT’s puzzle
Dy wasn’t part of the PLDT side that missed out on the Final Four by one spot in the recently-concluded All-Filipino Conference.
But in the oncoming import-laden tilt, Dy is optimistic she’ll get the chance to play with the team’s returning import Lena Samoilenko, whom she already competed against during the Russian ace’s first PVL stint in 2022.
“I already met her and she’s really nice. I’ve actually played against her the last time, so now, we’re preparing for the next league and hopefully I get to join her play. Sana," she said.
