ANTIPOLO — Rachel Daquis’ sought-after PVL comeback and Farm Fresh debut will have to wait a bit longer.
The veteran outside hitter, alongside new signings Jheck Dionela, AJ Jingco and Alohi Robins-Hardy, all won’t suit up for the Foxies’ 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference season-opener in Antipolo.
While her longtime comrade and fellow ex-Cignal ace Jovelyn Gonzaga already made her ZUS Coffee debut, no timetable has been set for Daquis’ first act back in the league as she's still working on her conditioning until she's ready to return to the court again.
It’ll be an indefinite waiting game as far as she’s concerned to avoid unwanted injury risks.
“Maghihintay lang din tayo kung kailan ako pwede makalaro,” Daquis told reporters minutes before Farm Fresh’s season-opener.
“Wala pang certain timetable pero step-by-step gagawin kasi ayoko rin naman na pagbalik ko ma-injure pa so dapat talagang 100 percent na kaya talaga.”
The 36-year-old spiker last saw action in the PVL for Cignal in the 2023 Invitational Conference before a year-long hiatus.
Less than a month since joining the Foxies, Daquis needs more time to find her footing not only with a new team but in the sport altogether.
“Kakasabay ko palang sa Farm Fresh last month eh so kailangan makabalik ako sa kapa ng bola.”
Daquis added, “Kahit nakakapag-workout ako, siyempre nag-stop ako sa paglalaro mismo, so ‘yun ‘yung wino-work out ko.
