CHICAGO - The Philippine Volleyball League (PVL) just got super exciting.
Multiple sources told SPIN.ph that billionaire sportsman Mikee Romero has been awarded a franchise tasked to put up the 12th team in the pioneering pro volleyball league.

The news comes on the heels of Strong Group Athletics (SGA), which also owns Farm Fresh, taking over the former Gerflor Defenders team.
Romero, a former deputy speaker in the House of Representatives and now a party list congressman, put up teams that won multiple championships in the PBL and the ABL. He owns the NorthPort Batang Pier team in the PBA.

The source, however, made it clear that Romero's PVL team will not be under the umbrella of Harbour Center, which the company carried in the PBL, ABL and PBA.
Romero's franchise will be taking over the spot of disbanded F2 Logistics, although most of the star players of that club have already signed with other PVL teams.
However, Romero has deep La Salle roots, being a former Green Archer and a longtime supporter of the sports program at Taft.
