SAVI Davison, the PVL's leading scorer and MVP frontrunner, has played against champion players and veteran stars across the league’s 12-team field in over a year since joining PLDT.
But if there’s any one opponent who the High Speed Hitters ace considers as the league’s best all-around player today, it’s no other than former MVP and Choco Mucho captain Sisi Rondina.

While some may consider Sisi a ‘shorter Savi’ or Savi a ‘taller Sisi’ because of their identical two-way prowess on offense and defense, Davison doesn’t consider herself a mirror image of the kind of player Rondina is.

In Savi’s view, Sisi’s high-flying and heavy-hitting exploits — undersized as she may be — represent ‘Philippine volleyball to a tee.’
“We play different. (Sisi is) very crafty, very beach-y, very all-around good player. I don’t have the opportunity to see myself live so I couldn’t tell you what kind of player I am but I think when you put us together, it’s like putting me and Brooke together. It’s like putting her and Brooke together,” Davison said.
“We’re just different players that know how to score in different ways, but credits to her for leaping high. Watching it? It’s a different story. I think she definitely has hops over me but it’s okay.”

'Playoff Sisi' a tougher beast
With Sisi and Choco Mucho drawing first blood over Savi and PLDT in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals, the Fil-Canadian winger tipped her hat to Rondina who fired 31 points as the High Speed Hitters fell on the losing end of a series-opening reverse sweep.
“(Sisi) always brings it. She’s always a great player regardless of whether it’s prelims, playoffs, finals. She’s always gonna show up, that’s the type of person that she is,” Davison said.
“She’s just a little extra fiery (in Game 1). She was able to kind of break our block a lot and score when we’re not paying full attention. I think that’s another thing that we have to look forward to.

“I mean, you don’t get here unless you’re that good, right? Just the opportunity to play against her is great.”
Davison gets at least one more shot to topple Rondina’s Flying Titans and force a rubber match come Game 2 on Thursday, 4 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.
