PLDT brushed off a slow start by surging to a masterful finish over Galeries Tower, 25-22, 25-6, 25-9, in its 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference opener on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.
Savi Davison, last conference's top prelims scorer, manned the High Speed Hitters’ demolition job with 19 points on 16 attacks, two blocks, and one ace.

"I think everything's coming together. All the days that we put in, hard work, I'm just super excited to start this season with the people we have on the court. And I think being that go-to person, that is my goal. So, I'm very happy with the outcome," Davison said.

After a nip-and-tuck opening frame, an on-the-rise Galeries Tower side was sent crashing with two single-digit outputs in Sets 2 and 3 — one which didn't see any Highriser reach double figures as Julia Ipac posted a team-high seven markers.
And with nearly double the total attacks (47 to 24), Davison's unassailable offense paired with 11 excellent sets for the debuting Kim Fajardo proved too much for last conference's cellar-dwellers.
"Nu'ng una, medyo hindi ko alam kung paano mag-adjust pero naging madali lang for me because of the guidance of my coaches," said Fajardo. "Advantage din talaga sa'kin na meron kaming Savi (Davison) kaya kumpyansa ako na lahat ng sets [dahil] kahit anong ibigay sa kanya, kaya niyang gawan ng paraan and way para maka-point."
