COLLEGE of St. Benilde jumpstarted its campaign with a 25-21, 15-25, 28-26, 27-25 victory over NCAA rival San Beda University in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Ruvince Abrot nailed 20 kills and finished with 22 points as the Blazers stopped the Red Spikers in one-hour and 33 minutes.
Roniey Adviento delivered 11 hits including eight digs, while Owen Bacani added nine markers. Setter Kevin Magsino paced the team with 31 excellents.
St. Benilde tied earlier match winner NU as well as other UAAP teams UP, UST and Adamson on top of the standings. The Blazers and Bulldogs seek their second wins on Wednesday at 12 p.m.
Jomaru Amagan led San Beda with 16 points, while Patrick Pallatao and Angelo Torres added 12 and 11 hits, respectively.
The Red Spikers try to recover from their first loss against Adamson also on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
