ROGER Gorayeb is jumping ship to Strong Group Athletics (SGA).
The fallout of Gorayeb’s shock Capital1 exit has now led him to a new home as the ‘lifetime volleyball consultant’ for SGA’s girls’ and women’s volleyball teams.
It’s a privilege and an opportunity that the 39-time NCAA volleyball champion isn’t taking for granted.

“Masaya ako kasi mayroon pa palang nagtitiwala sa akin,” said Gorayeb.
“Sobrang sarap sa feeling kasi hindi ako mawawala sa volleyball. Passion ko talaga magturo ng mga bata. Super saya.”

As per the Frank Lao-backed SGA, Gorayeb’s wisdom and mentorship will be imparted to the stable’s four supported teams in University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Benilde and Letran.
Of the four schools mentioned, UST recently became the newest addition to the SGA family on Thursday, with the partnership focused on strengthening España’s grassroots program in girls’ volleyball.
Honoring a sporting pillar
There’s more to SGA’s appointment of Gorayeb than just his credentials and veteran leadership.
SGA Volleyball head Kiara Cruz bared that Gorayeb’s contract will run ‘for as long as he can mentor our athletes’ as their way of ‘honoring the legacy of a man who has devoted his life to the sport.’
“It's truly an honor to have Coach Roger Gorayeb guiding our student-athletes from the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Saint Benilde, and Letran,” Cruz said.

“His wealth of experience and championship pedigree will be an incredible asset to all our teams, both on and off the court.”
Gorayeb won 22 women’s volleyball titles, 11 high school crowns and six beach volleyball championships in a dynastic coaching reign with San Sebastian in the NCAA.
Albeit short-lived, his year-long PVL pro coaching stint had a quarterfinals run as his best finish with the Solar Spikers back in the 2024 Reinforced Conference.
Following the appointment of Alas Pilipinas Women head coach Jorge Souza de Brito on Monday as Capital1's new lead shot-caller, Gorayeb would then be re-assigned into a consultancy role — one which he has now apparently overturned to join SGA instead.
