FAR Eastern University inched closer to the semifinals with a 27-25, 25-20, 25-11 rout of San Sebastian College on Saturday in the round-robin quarterfinals of the V-League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Bernadeth Pons led all scorers as she continued to play despite flu symptoms, delivering 17 points, while skipper Remy Palma added 14 for FEU.
“Si Pons, may ubo, sipon, until now may ubo pa siya tapos mag lagnat pa actually ’yung game namin sa UP meron na siya sakit noon kailangan lang gamitin,” said FEU coach Shaq delos Santos.
FEU, coming off a five-set loss to National University, improved its record to 3-1.
SSC dropped to 2-2.
“More on sa positive kami every practice, every usap namin, kahit nangyari man ’yung natalo kami sa NU ’yun ’yung gawin naming dahilan para mas mag-step up pa,” said De los Santos.
Heather Guino-o and Toni Basas each had nine markers for FEU, which also had seven blocks against none by San Sebastian.
The Lady Tamaraws also had 12 service aces against four by the San Sebastian belles.
Grethcel Soltones scored 12 points for San Sebastian.
