BUREAU of Customs coach Sherwin Meneses remained optimistic his two Thai imports can already play in their match against Laoag in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Thai imports Kanjana Kuthaisong and Natthanicha Jaisaen were benched in the entire match against University of the Philippines on Monday due to technicalities on their documents.
“Actually ang papers na-submit na namin lahat so may konti lang na (details) confidential lang din so hayaan na lang natin na sila ang maglabas ng data. Pero ok lang naman, next game sure na ‘yun,” said BoC coach Sherwin Meneses.
On Monday, BoC needed three sets to dispose the Lady Maroons even without the imports but Meneses is not playing safe against Laoag.
First-time teammates Jorelle Singh and Grethcel Soltones carried the Power Smashers to a 25-8, 25-15, 25-16 win over Philippine Coast Guard in their opening match even without Aiko Urdas and Jessica Galanza, who suited up for National University and Adamson, respectively, for the UAAP Season 79 women’s beach volleyball tournament.
“Step by step muna, paghahandaan muna naming mabuti ‘yung Laoag. Hopefully makalaro na ang imports namin,” said Meneses.
BoC will face Laoag at 6:00 p.m.
In case the Thais again sit out, Meneses will count on Alyssa Valdez, who made 18 points, along with Rose Marie Vargas and Lilet Mabbayad, who combined for 27 markers.
