DESPITE suffering from cramps and fatigue in Farm Fresh’s five-set combeack over Capital1, Rachel Daquis kept her greatest asset on display: her smile.
Just like the old days, ‘RAD’ kept the Foxies’ ship afloat with a sharp two-way game with 19 points and 13 digs along with her positive on-court leadership.

Smiling through wins, losses, setbacks and everything in between has kept her motor running in her two-decade volleyball career.
That’s what Daquis considered as her long-running secret to being Philippine volleyball’s fountain of youth.
“’Yan ‘yung secret bakit parang (bata) pa rin ako, aging but not aging,” Daquis shared with SPIN.ph.
“Dumadagdag nang dumagdag ‘yung edad natin pero hindi tayo tumatanda kasi positive vibes lang tayo. Alam mo ‘yung feeling young, happy, fresh.”
Such a bright demeanor is the legacy she wants to leave with Farm Fresh’s up-and-coming stars.
“‘Yung vibes ko na ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung gusto kong ma-share sa mga bata na mas magaan magtrabaho ‘pag masaya kaysa sa malungkot so always be happy and share happiness,” Daquis said.
Her veteran smarts is one thing, but for Farm Fresh head coach Benson Bocboc, Daquis’ undeniable aura has been her greatest contribution to her new home on and off the court.
In other words, Farm Fresh gets by with Daquis’ smile.
“Laging naka-ganyan ‘yan (Daquis) eh (naka-smile). Very positive kasi siya eh kaya kahit ‘yung ibang tahimik, nadadala niya, Bocboc said.
“Kahit na galit siya, naka-smile siya. Ibang-iba yung energy, kahit si Louie (Romero), nahahati yung load ni Louie (as captain) dahil nadi-distribute to someone na mga matatanda, sa mga medyo bata,” he added.
“Lagi siya naka-smile. Ayun ‘yung kakaiba (sa team) kaysa sa dati. Pagdating nila dito, may renewed energy na ‘yung Farm Fresh.”
