ANTIPOLO CITY — Life as an athlete isn’t forever, and 36-year-old Rachel Daquis knows it. While she may still have something left in the tank as she prepares for a possible PVL return, she is also in the midst of putting together what she hopes will be a prosperous future for herself outside of volleyball.
She has yet to make her Farm Fresh debut, and may still have to wait a bit longer, as she continues to work towards optimal form and conditioning before being cleared to make her league comeback.

It’s been 16 months since Daquis last set foot in the PVL with Cignal in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference.

Between her last game and her current status, RAD joined a volleyball coaches’ camp in the United States in September last year. It was not the only thing she did. She got to seriously think about here future and put her mind into a new endeavor, something she said she'll do after perhaps delivering her final smash.
Let RAD cook
Daquis entered the world of food as a student at the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management (ISCAHM), a two-decade-old culinary and pastry arts school in Quezon City.
It is a culinary institution school situated near Ateneo in Katipunan founded by the father of her former Cignal teammate Vanie Gandler.
After learning her basics and some serious work in the kitchen, she went overseas and had a stint with ‘Forn de Manila,’ the first Filipino bakery in Barcelona, Spain, where her hands dipped into dough instead of the usual leather ball.

“Pinagkaka-abalahan ko guys, please support Forn de Manila. Nag-aral din ako sa school nila Vanie [Gandler] sa ISCAHM, sa ISCAHM family [ko], hello,” said Daquis in her first public appearance as a Farm Fresh player.
Knowing how little time she has left in the sport, Daquis shared her practical, long-term line of thought behind her recent culinary ventures.
“Nag-aral lang naman ako para, siyempre, ‘di naman tayo forever volleyball player so meron tayong back-up plans.”
Daquis said: “Nu’ng una ko nganng nakausap si Farm Fresh, ang pinaka-magandang tumatak sa’kin is ‘yung plano nila sa loob at sa labas ng volleyball.
“Hindi lang as a volleyball player ‘yung plano nila sa’yo dahil hindi naman forever na player din tayo.”
