ARMY needed all its big guns against powerhouse PLDT, but needed to pull Rachel Anne Daquis early in the opener of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference final on Thursday at the Arena in San Juan.

Daquis only played the first two sets, scoring just one point. Still, the Lady Troopers led by Jovelyn Gonzaga and Dindin Santiago-Manabat managed to fight back from a set down to take the win.

Daquis also left in the fourth set of Petron’s the Philippine Super Liga title-clinching win over Shopinas last week owing to an injury and it was apparent she was still struggling with Army on Thursday.

The Super Liga All-Filipino Conference MVP didn’t reveal details about her condition, but said there’s nothing to worry about.

“At least, may recovery din po,” said Daquis, who remained in high spirits despite contributing little to the win.

“Okay naman po. Masaya na nanalo kami,” added the former Far Eastern University stalwart.

Army coach Rico De Guzman simply said Daquis just needed to rest.

“Hindi pa siya nakaka-recover kasi katatapos lang ng isang liga,” said De Guzman, referring to the PSL. “Siya nga rin ang MVP doon. Nakita ko siya kung paano maglaro. Pagod lang.”
