PHILIPPINE Army turned its opening match into a training session, clobbering Fourbees-Perpetual Help, 25-8, 25-10, 25-11, on Tuesday in the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Rachel Anne Daquis scored 16 points for Army, former Perpetual Help standout Royse Tubino added nine markers and Dindin Santiago-Manabat came off the bench to score eight.
The Lady Troopers, three-time league champions, needed only an hour to finish the match, and Army coach Rico de Guzman said it was a good workout for the Sunday match with another league heavyweight in PLDT Home Ultera.
“Good game naman ang ipinakita ng mga players, sabi ko nga sa kanila kalaban natin estudyante so mag-practice na tayo para sa PLDT," said De Guzman.
Army joins opening-match winners Cagayan Valley, PLDT Home Ultera and Meralco on top.
Ana Diocareza and Marijo Medalla had four markers apiece for Fourbees-Perpetual Help, which winless in two matches.
