MONTALBAN, Rizal — Hours before its conference opener, the PVL teams were left awaiting the final clearance from the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) that will allow their imports to play in its 2025 Reinforced Conference.
The situation is a fluid one, as explained by PVL committee chairman Sherwin Malonzo to SPIN.ph, as the league awaits the last signatory in PNVF president Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara to give all foreign guest players the green light.

Malonzo was seen monitoring developments through the FIVB portal to have the reinforcements see action on Tuesday.
However, the conference opener between Akari and ZUS Coffee that was to start at 4 p.m. was delayed as Malonzo was seen in a huddle with officials of both teams.
Later, the game started with the imports left on the bench.
Malonzo explained that all prior documentary requirements for all imports have been submitted over a week ago, including payments from the teams’ end.

The PVL was assured that Suzara will provide the missing signature ‘in a few minutes.’
But no clearance came until the start of the first game.

League officials were forced to make a difficult decision of indefinitely barring their imports from the Reinforced Conference amid their ongoing impasse with the PNVF.
Starting Tuesday, the PVL will again reach out to the national federation in hopes of reaching a swift and immediate resolution to green-light all imports at the soonest possible time.
