ATENEO’s Deanna Wong and Caitlyn Viray of University of Santo Tomas have been signed by Premier Volleyball League team ChocoMucho as the league plans to hold its fourth season late this year.
The Flying Titans announced the signings late on Sunday on Twitter.
Seventh in last year’s Open Conference with only six wins against 10 losses, Choco Mucho has been moving to revamp its squad even as professional sports leagues have yet to set restart dates.
Veteran libero Denden Lazaro was signed by the team early this year.
Wong, who skipped UAAP Season 82 due to a stress fracture on her right shin, will be reunited with ChocoMucho head coach Oliver Almadro and fellow Lady Eagles Kat Tolentino, Bea De Leon and Maddie Madayag.
The former UAAP Best Setter in the PVL is set to return two years after Ateneo-Motolite’s runner-up finish in the Open Conference.
Viray, part of the UST squad that finished second to Ateneo in UAAP Season 81, can play as middle blocker and wing spiker. She is no stranger to club play, suiting up for Smart-Army and Marinerang Pilipina in the Philippine Superliga.
