TACLOBAN snapped a three-game losing streak in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, defeating Pocari Sweat, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 15-9, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Dimdim Pacres finished with 21 points, including the game-clinching attack, for the Fighting Warays, who improved to 3-4.
“Unang-una importante ang game na ‘to. Makalusot man kami dito mas malaki ang tsansa namin para makapasok (sa Final Four) pagdating ng second round,” said Tacloban coach Nes Pamilar.
Down, 0-2, in the fifth set, Tacloban scored five straight points to snatch the lead, 5-2, en route to the technical timeout, 8-4.
The Lady Warriors tired to keep within striking distance, 6-8, but the lead was already enough for the Fighting Warays to take the win.
Team captain Jovielyn Prado and Heather Guino-o also had 16 markers apiece for Tacloban.
Jeanette Panaga made 19 points for Pocari Sweat, while Del Palomata and skipper Myla Pablo added 16 markers apiece and Iari Yongco had 10.
The Lady Warriors slid to 3-3.
