PLDT proved too much for Strong Group, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17, in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at PhilSports Arena, Pasig.
The High-Speed Hitters now boast an identical win-loss slate with Choco Mucho at 7-1.
Rookie Keisha Bedonia showcased dominant form charging 16 attacks off the bench for PLDT.
"Pinagkatiwalaan po ako ng mga setter po everytime na binabato nila sa’kin ‘yung bola. So, para po sa’kin, kahit anong mangyari, papatayin ko talaga ‘to”, said Bedonia after the game.
Poise was in full display for PLDT on both ends, tallying 50 attacks and eight blocks while the Athletics managed only 28 attacks and two blocks.
Coach Rald Ricafort bared that although Strong Group trailed closer in the second set, PLDT relied on its second-stringers to allow rest for its starters.
“‘Yung last three games namin na very crucial, talagang ‘one game at a time’. Medyo cliché pero wala na kaming ibang paguusapan, sunod-sunod na rin ‘yung kumbaga”, said Ricafort.
PLDT will face formidable opponents on Chery Tiggo, Cignal, and Creamline in the succeeding weeks.
“Siguro ‘yung preparation namin na ang baon namin medyo mas positive kasi nga may panalong sunod-sunod. Pero ‘yung nga, ang natulong ng game na ‘to is less ‘yung load sa core na kahit papaano, parang nadagdagan doon sa enough rest na kailangan nila para makapagsimula na kami nung hell week in two weeks na dire-diretso”, the mentor added.
Shiela Kiseo and Julianne Samonte ignited the offense for the High-Speed Hitters with 11 markers apiece.
Meanwhile, Strong Group relied on Sheeka Espinosa and Dolly Versoza, who each tallied six points.
