A CREAMLINE squad missing Alyssa Valdez still proved too much for Chef’s Classics, scoring a 25-11, 25-14, 25-21 victory on Saturday in the PVL Open Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
Valdez is out at least for a week after sustaining a right ankle injury in practice on Thursday and has also withdrawn from the Philippine women’s volleyball team’s participation in a tournament in Thailand.
Fille Cainglet-Cayetano showed the way with nine points, all from attacks, as Creamline scored its ninth win in as many matches while keeping Chef’s Classics winless in eight outings.
Michele Gumabao and Jema Galanza had eight points apiece, while Risa Sato added seven markers.
Jia Morado made 28 excellent sets in her last match with Creamline before leaving to join the Philippine women’s team in Thailand.
“Siyempre every win we get is an advantage going to the semifinals and we’ll take it one game at a time,” said Morado speaking for injured skipper Valdez.
“Happy naman kami na yung hardwork namin sa training, yung mga patayan namin with coach Tai (Bundit) nag-payoff naman,” she added.
Bundit had the luxury of fielding his second stringers in the third set led by Heather Guino-o, who scored five.
Chef’s Classics made 23 attacks, while Creamline had 41 kills.
The Lady Red Spikers also committed 25 errors, with Nieza Viray being the lone bright spot with eight markers.
