CREAMLINE wasted no time in a ruthless sweep of Strong Group Athletics, 25-13, 25-13, 25-19, in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Bernadeth Pons starred in the Cool Smashers’ fourth win in as many games to start their title defense, and 19th in succession since last year’s season-ending All-Filipino tilt, with 12 points on 10 attacks and two aces.

Meanwhile, SGA remained winless in its debut conference as the reigning champions handed it a fourth straight loss.
“Satisfied naman ako sa galaw ng mga players ngayon. Talagang nagtrabaho sila para makuha yung panalo. Hindi nila tinignan kung sino ‘yung kalaban nila at ‘yun naman ‘yung importante,” said Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses.

The Cool Smashers’ offense waxed hot early with all but three of 14 players in setter Bea Bonafe and liberos Kyla Atienza and Ella de Jesus landing in the scoresheets.
Pons and captain Alyssa Valdez (nine points) flexed their scoring prowess come Set 2, joining forces in Creamline’s masterful 15-1 start which held cellar-dwelling SGA at bay the rest of the way.
Floor defense shone just as bright as Creamline’s signature offense as de Jesus and ace spiker Jema Galanza posted 11 excellent digs each, with Kyle Negrito converting 10 excellent sets.
Four games into their maiden stint, SGA captain Dolly Versoza was again the lone bright spot with eight attack points, 11 digs, and four receptions.
