PETRO Gazz now has one foot on the door of a fifth PVL Finals appearance by outpacing Choco Mucho, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17, 27-25, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
From 15-21 down in Set 4, the red shirts fired a 9-2 run that had everything from power hits and kill blocks to a late string of aces from Djanel Cheng.
And even after an extended pause after a Choco Mucho challenge from 24-23 up, the Angels still survived through Myla Pablo’s game-winning offspeed hit to cap her 13-point outing highlighted by five blocks along with nine digs.
Brooke Van Sickle flexed her MVP form with a staggering triple-double of 17 points, 22 receptions and 12 digs.

Their all-time PVL head-to-head record in six years now stands at 10-5 in Petro Gazz' favor.
The Angels kept their strong hold of the No. 1 position ahead of the final semis playdate as the last unbeaten team at 2-0.
Meanwhile, Sisi Rondina paced the seething loss with 25 points and eight receptions alongside Isa Molde's 12 markers.
One more win will fastrack Angels' flight
A win over Akari on Thursday, regardless of how many sets it will take, will send the Angels to the best-of-three title series in a bid for their third PVL title.
As far as tie-breaking metrics go, Petro Gazz has incurred six match points after earning three each from tonight’s victory and its four-set win over Creamline.
But should there be a triple-tie at 2-1 by Thursday’s end, only a Creamline win in three or four sets over Choco Mucho can jeopardize Petro Gazz’ entry to the championship round as a play-off game for No. 2 remains a possibility.
