Creamline returned to its winning ways following a commanding 25-18, 25-14, 25-15victory over Capital1 in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) clash held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday.
Carlos scores 19 points
After seeing their 19-game winning streak snapped by Chery Tiggo, the Cool Smashers regrouped, with Tots Carlos leading the charge with 14 points, comprising 12 attacks, one block, and one ace.
“‘Yung win ngayon, kahit papaano naka-recover kami sa last loss namin. Pero ang importante naman ay nakapaglaro kami nang maayos tsaka ma-improve every game para pagdating sa dulo ng mga games, maganda ‘yung laro namin,” said coach Sherwin Meneses.
Bernadeth Pons contributed seven points, while Alyssa Valdez, Michele Gumabao, and Jema Galanza each added five points to Creamline's tally.
Despite acknowledging some lapses, Carlos and Valdez stressed the significance of adhering to the team's system.
Valdez: Stick with the system
“Definitely, we had a lot of lapses din in today’s game. But I think one thing na nire-remind sa’min ni coach [Sherwin], we really have to stick with the system and kapag nakikita niya ‘yun, it’s a win for us,” said Valdez.
“‘Yung mga small things kasi ‘yung kailangan naming i-improve and ‘yun ‘yung laging dinidiin sa amin nina coach. So, sabi nga ni Ate Ly, nagkaroon kami ng mga lapses like personally, ‘yung blockings, ‘yung aggressiveness and all,” said Carlos.
Carlos said there is still a lot to improve on because the season is still long.
Capital1, fueled by Jorelle Singh's attacks, momentarily took the lead in the second set at 5-4, but Creamline swiftly regained control, ultimately overpowering the Solar Spikers and dampening their momentum in the third set.
Singh put up a valiant effort for Capital1, finishing with 14 points.
