CHOCO Mucho won’t let another two-set lead slide as it forced sudden death against Cignal, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, in Game Two of the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals at the Philsports Arena on Saturday.
Sisi Rondina slammed Cignal’s repeat comeback bid shut with a 23-point outing built on 20 attacks, two blocks, and one ace.
Choco Mucho forces do-or-die with Cignal
“Sabi ko nga paulit-ulit na lagi akong naka-mindset na giyera nga ‘to at lagi kong sinasabi na mananalo kami. Kailangan naming ma-extend ‘to para ‘yung pagod namin magbunga.
“Sa totoo lang, naakapagod na talaga, nakakapagod na rin ‘yung training kasi siyempre gusto na rin naming magpahinga. Pero wala, ang ginawa namin is kailangang magbunga ‘yung pagod namin,” Rondina said.

Kat Tolentino’s 15 markers also proved vital in extending the series and keeping Choco Mucho’s bid for its first-ever finals appearance alive.
“The biggest takeaway for me is that I never felt like I was alone. If I make an error, there’s always five other girls there supporting me. They are the ones that lift you up, who you’re playing with, and it also came down to heart,” Tolentino added.
The first two sets were carbon copies of their five-set Game One battle, in which Choco Mucho cruised to a 2-0 advantage despite Cignal’s late fightbacks in both frames.
Unlike in Game 1 when they blew away their advantage, Rondina and company made sure there won't be a repeat, outlasting Cignal in the decisive third set.
Cignal drew 13 points from Jovelyn Gonzaga and 11 points each from MVP Ces Molina and Riri Meneses.
