POCARI Sweat considered its Super Liga experience a major advantage in its transfer to the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference.

The Lady Warriors schooled collegiate team University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-14, 25-22, to kick off its campaign on a high note on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Pocari Sweat, formerly Philips Gold in the PSL, kept an intact lineup bannered by its core of Michele Gumabao, Melissa Gohing and Myla Pablo as it moved to the country’s pioneering commercial amateur league.

After playing for the PSL for a year, Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella and libero Gohing believe they have an edge over the other teams in the V-League.

“Factor ‘yun, actually one of the major factors ‘yun going for our team kasi ‘yung core namin is isang taon na yata kami (magkakasama) and puro veterans pa ‘yung nasa core namin, so ‘yung transition namin from one league to V-League is medyo naging smooth kahit papano,” said Abella.

Veteran defense specialist Gohing agreed, stressing the import-laden Grand Prix Conference was an even bigger confidence boost for the team.

Pocari Sweat and co-leader National U will face each other on Wednesday.
