MERALCO got a big power surge, while the Philippine Navy continued to tread water as the Power Spikers downed the Lady Sailors in straight sets on Tuesday in the Shakey's V-League Season 10 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Chinese import Coco Wang came up with a game-high 18 points as Meralco won 25-21, 25-22, 25-16.
Fille Cainglet and Maica Morada chipped in 13 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Power Spikers, who are back on track after a loss to league-leading Cagayan Valley.
It was the third win in five games for Meralco, which improved to fourth place before going on a 10-day hiatus.
Philippine Navy, meanwhile, remained winless in three outings.
"Everybody stepped up. Si Maica may fever but she played well, si Ivy stepped up also, nagco-connect na si Coco and si April (Jose)," said Meralco coach Oliver Almadro.
After a tight contest in the first two sets, the Power Spikers broke loose in the third with a 5-0 spurt to put up a 7-2 advantage.
Mic-Mic Laborte's back-to-back hits helped the Lady Sailors inch closer, 9-12. But Wang sparked a 6-0 run that made it 18-9 for Meralco.
"Medyo mabagal 'yung laro ng Navy pero hindi mo pwedeng biruin (ang Navy) kasi andyan si Mic-Mic at may (Janeth) Serafica pa," said Almadro.
Laborte finished with 12 points from 11 spikes and one block for Navy.
