POWER Smashers overcame a tough Banko Perlas side to score their first win, 25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-12, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Saturday.
Jovelyn Prado powered the Power Smashers to their breakthrough victory in four matches with a team-high 22 points, including a couple of kills in the fifth set that put the team up, 12-10.
Regine Arocha added 18 points.
But Power Smashers head coach Nes Pamilar is far from satisfied even with his team ending a 0-3 start.
"Hindi pa rin yun yung hinahanap kong performance nila. Ang hinahanap ko kasi yung may magli-lead sa loob," Pamilar said.
Nicole Tiamzon paced Banko Perlas with 22 points, most of which she made late in the fourth set to force a decider.
Ella De Jesus chipped in 20 points, while Suzanne Roces and Kathy Bersola had 15 and 13, respectively for Banko Perlas, which dropped to 1-3.
